Norbrook Milking Salve is a topical ointment for dairy cattle, formulated with 0.55% dichlorophen and lanolin. It is used to soften chapped teats, prevent dry cracks, and maintain hygiene, which collectively reduces the risk of mastitis.
Active ingredient: Contains 0.55% (weight/volume) Dichlorophen with Lanolin as an emollient
Indications:
The product makes the milking process hygienic and smooth and prevents the occurrence of sores and dry cracks on teats and udder during milking, these being influencing factors in mastitis.
Benefits:
- Active Ingredients: Contains 0.55% w/w dichlorophen (antifungal/antimicrobial agent) and lanolin (emollient).
- Physical Description: An off-white emollient ointment with a characteristic antiseptic smell.
- Prevention: Regular use prevents sores, dry cracks, and chapping on teats and udders, which can predispose cows to mastitis.
- Hygiene: Promotes a smooth, clean, and safe milking process
Dosage:
When milking by hand, it is advisable that the milker's hands as well as the animal's udder and teats be cleaned using warm water and dried with a clean cloth, before application of Norbrook Milking Salve to the hands and teats prior to normal milking.
In the case of machine milking, Norbrook Milking Salve may be applied after milking using the same procedure.
Application Guidelines:
- Hand Milking: Clean hands, udder, and teats with warm water and a dry cloth, then apply the salve to hands and teats prior to milking.
- Machine Milking: Clean the udder and teats, and apply the salve after the milking process is complete
