Last Call DBM is a pheromone-based "attract and kill" technology specifically designed to control the Diamondback Moth (DBM) by attracting and eliminating male moths to break the pest's life cycle. It works by using a specialized gel droplet that combines a pheromone attractant with a killing agent (a pyrethroid), offering a targeted alternative to conventional sprays.
Male-X DBM is a combination of an insecticide with a synthetic insect pheromone in a patented UV-resistant carrier that attracts and neutralizes the male DiamondBack Moth (DBM) or Plutella xylostella.
Each droplet is equivalent to a female attractant coupled with a contact insecticide. This product distinguishes itself by its unique mode of action compared to conventional traps, which consists of overcoming the female population with a large number of droplets and competing with them in the field to effectively reduce the moths population.
Active ingredient: Typically a combination of pheromones and an insecticide, often chlorantraniliprole or spinosad (Entrust)
Mode of Action:
The product works by releasing a scent that attracts male moths to a grease droplet. Upon contact, the killing agent eliminates the moth, preventing mating and subsequent egg-laying.
It is recommended to apply the droplets on lower, non-edible leaves or in a pattern that avoids contact with the fruit or edible portions of the plant.
Application: The product is dispensed as small beads or droplets in a uniform pattern.
Mechanism: Male moths are lured to the droplet, come into contact with the killing agent, and die, preventing them from mating with females.
Resistance Management: Because it uses a different mechanism than standard insecticides, it is a useful tool in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to help manage resistance
Benefits:
Targeted Control: It selectively targets male moths, which helps disrupt reproduction without harming beneficial insects.
Reduced Contamination: When applied correctly (often on lower leaves or high up on trellis crops depending on the plant), it minimizes contact with the edible parts of the crop.
Persistence: A single application can remain effective for 4 to 6 weeks.
Residue-Free: Since it is applied to non-edible parts of the crop, it leaves no residue and has no pre-harvest intervals.
Extended Protection: Provides up to 4 weeks of control from a single application.
Easy to Use: Requires no mixing, refrigeration, or special tools; the ready-to-use dispenser is designed for simple, uniform application.
