Dithane M-45 is a broad-spectrum, contact-protective fungicide containing 80% Mancozeb (ethylene bisdithiocarbamate).
It is used to prevent fungal diseases like blight, rust, and mildew in crops such as potatoes, tomatoes, vegetables, and ornamentals by creating a protective layer that stops fungal spore germination.
It acts as a preventative barrier to stop spore germination, utilizing unique "Rain Shield" technology for superior adhesion to leaves even during light rain, which helps secure high yields
Active Ingredient: Mancozeb 80% WP (Wettable Powder).
Mode of Action: Contact (non-systemic) action with multi-site, inhibiting spore germination, which prevents the development of resistance.
Key Diseases Controlled: Early blight, late blight, downy mildew, leaf spot, rusts, anthracnose, and scab.
Target Crops: Extensive range, including potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, tobacco, fruit trees, and ornamentals.
Benefits:
Preventive Action & Low Resistance: Its multi-site mode of action means there is no reported resistance even after 45+ years of use, making it excellent for resistance management in integrated pest management (IPM).
Rain Shield Technology: Fine particle size provides excellent leaf surface coverage, adhesion, and resistance to being washed away by light rain or dew.
Nutritional Support: The Zinc/Manganese formula helps increase chlorophyl in leaves, providing a greening effect.
High Crop Safety & Compatibility: Safe for use on many crops and compatible with most other fungicides and insecticides
Application Recommendations:
- Application: Apply as a foliar spray at the first sign of disease or on a regular, preventative schedule.
- Mixing: Mix the powder with a little water to form a thick cream before adding the rest of the water, ensuring consistent agitation during application.
- Safety: Classified as a caution, it should be handled with standard protective equipment
