Dicopur D 720 SL is a highly effective, systemic selective herbicide. It is widely used to control annual and perennial broadleaved weeds in maize, wheat, and coffee.
Active ingredient: Dimethylamine salt 2,4-Dichlorophenyl acetic acid (2,4D) 720gm/L
Mode of action: It acts as a hormone-type herbicide. The chemical is absorbed through the green leaves and stems of the weed and translocates throughout the entire plant all the way down to the roots causing systemic malfunctions that progressively kill the weed.
Mode: Pre-emergence and post-emergence
Crops: Maize, Coffee and Wheat
Target: Annual & perennial broadleaved weeds
Benefits:
- Highly Targeted Control: Effectively eliminates tough broadleaf weeds like thistles, bindweed, wild mustard, and poppy.
- Systemic Action: Absorbed through the leaves and stems and carried down into the root system. This prevents the weeds from resprouting.
- Crop Safety: Because it is selective, it targets weeds without harming your main cereals or coffee.
- Improves Crop Yield: By removing weed competition, your crops gain better access to sunlight, water, and nutrients.
Application:
- Crops: Primarily used on maize, wheat, sorghum, and coffee. It is a "selective" herbicide, meaning it kills the broadleaf weeds but spares your grass-type cereal crops.
- Timing: Can be used as a pre-emergence or post-emergence herbicide. For post-emergence, spray when the weeds are small and actively growing.
- Rates: Standard application rates typically range from 1.25 to 1.5 liters per hectare.
Precautions:
- Drift Risk: Be extremely careful when spraying on a windy day, as the spray drift can easily damage neighboring non-target crops (like vegetables or beans).
- Crop Sensitivity: Do not mix with certain insecticides to prevent causing injury to your main crops.
- Safety: Always wear proper protective gear (gloves, mask, boots) when mixing and applying, as it can be harmful if it comes into contact with skin or eyes.
