Cabbage Cabbice F1 is an early-maturing, "primo" type ballhead cabbage famous for its intense sweetness and crispy, tender texture.
Weighing between 2–3kg, its thick leaves make it a popular raw substitute for iceberg lettuce in summer and autumn salads and slaws.
Growing Guidelines:
- Sowing: Can be started indoors or in a well-prepared seedbed (depth of 13mm).
- Transplanting: Seedlings should be transplanted to their final location when they have 2–3 true leaves and risk of frost has passed.
- Spacing: Space plants about 50cm × 35cm apart to achieve average head sizes.
- Soil & Feeding: Performs well in almost any free-draining soil but requires full sun and high levels of nitrogen to thrive.
Key Characteristics:
- Head Size: Produces round, compact heads weighing roughly 1.5 to 2 kg.
- Flavor: Uniquely sweet and non-peppery, lacking the bitterness found in some traditional cabbages.
- Texture: Crisp and thick, mimicking the bite of an iceberg lettuce.
Advantages:
Fast Maturity: As a short-cycle variety, it reaches harvestable size much quicker than traditional cabbages.
High Uniformity: The plants grow consistently, producing a very high percentage of top-grade, marketable heads at first cut.
Disease Resistance: It is bred with high resistance (HR) to common fungal issues like Fusarium, ensuring a more reliable harvest.
Versatility: Excellent internal quality makes it ideal for processing, pre-packaging, and retail loose heads
