Baciking 16000 WDG is a novel biological insecticide formulated from strain of Bacillus thuringiensis var aizawai for control of wide range of larval stage of lepidopteran insect pests on a wide range of crops.
It acts by producing a protein that blocks the digestive system of the insect, effectively starving it. When Insects ingest the toxins, protein crystals dissolve in the alkaline environment of the caterpillar gut, and conformational changes in the receptor-toxin structure open pores in epithelial cells of the gut wall causing intestinal paralysis and feeding cessation thus starvation, but may remain on the foliage until they die.
