Alamycin Injection is a long acting antimicrobial solution for injection containing 200 mg/ml of oxytetracycline. Indicated for the treatment of diseases caused by or associated with organisms sensitive to oxytetracycline in cattle, sheep and pigs and can also be used in the control of enzootic abortion in sheep.
Active ingredient: Oxytetracycline dihydrate 200mg
Dosage Guidelines:
1 ml per 10 kg of body weight (20 mg/kg). To avoid tissue irritation, do not exceed the following maximum volumes at a single injection site:
- Cattle: 20 ml
- Pigs: 10 ml
- Sheep: 5 ml
Withdrawal Periods:
If you are treating animals for meat or milk, it is crucial to observe the withdrawal periods to prevent residues in human food chains.
- Milk (Cattle): Discard milk during treatment and for 10 days afterward.
- Milk (Sheep): Discard milk during treatment and for 7 days afterward.
- Meat/Offal: Meat is typically withheld for varying days depending on the region (consult product labels and regional veterinary authorities).
Benefits
- Extended Treatment: Sustained antibacterial action means a single deep intramuscular injection is often sufficient.
- Broad-Spectrum Efficacy: Treats a wide variety of systemic, respiratory, and local infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
- Reduced Stress: Less frequent handling and restraint limits stress on the animals.
- Fast Acting: Reaches maximum therapeutic blood levels within 4 to 8 hours of administration, making it ideal for acute infections
