RNA 800 EC is an organic, broad-spectrum insecticide and miticide with paraffinic oil as its active ingredient. It works primarily through physical contact and suffocation, blocking the spiracles that pests use to breathe.
It is widely used by farmers in the Nairobi region to protect vegetables, fruits, and cash crops like roses
Active Ingredient: Paraffinic Oil (800 g/L)
Target Pests: Spider mites, mealybugs, aphids, whiteflies, leaf miners, and scale insects.
Mixing Rate: 60 to 80 mL per 20 liters of water (or roughly 3 to 4 mL per liter of water)
Safety: It leaves zero harmful residues and has a low Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI), making it highly suitable for export-bound produce.
Benefits:
Broad-Spectrum Control: Effectively manages a wide variety of soft-bodied insects and mites, including spider mites, aphids, whiteflies, mealybugs, scales, and leafminers.
Suffocation Mechanism: Because it kills by suffocation upon direct contact rather than relying on neurotoxins, pests cannot build up chemical resistance to it.
Safe for Organic Farming: Leaves no harmful chemical residues, making it ideal for sustainable and organic agricultural practices.
Short Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): Can be used close to harvest times without violating pesticide residue limits, which is highly beneficial for export crops like French beans and tomatoes.
