PREDATOR ® 340EC is a pre-mergence and post-emergence herbicide which is primarily used for controlling a wide range of weeds in onion and garlic fields used to control broad leaved weeds and grasses in onions.
MODE OF ACTION
- Pendimethalin (dinitroaniline group) is a contact herbicide for pre-mergence and post-emergence applications to control annual grasses and certain broadleaf weeds absorbed through both the leaves and roots of target plants by inhibiting cell division and cell elongation.
- Oxyfluorfen (nitro phenyl ether group) is a selective contact herbicide, class used in pre-mergence and post-emergence applications to control annual grasses and certain broadleaf weeds by inhibiting the production of a chlorophyll enzyme which results in an accumulation of chemicals that disrupt cell membrane integrity in the presence of light.
RECOMMENDED APPLICATION RATES
Crop | Target | Rate | Method of application |
Garlic | Broadleaf & grass weeds | 0.75-1L/ha in 750-1000L of water 0.75 – 1 ml per litre of water | Apply PREDATOR® 340EC to soil immediately after planting before emergence of crops. Increase the volume of dilution water when soil is dry. |
Onion | Broadleaf & grass weeds | 0.75-1L/ha in 750-1000L of water 0.75 – 1 ml per litre of water | Apply PREDATOR® 340EC to soil before transplant. Increase the volume of dilution water when soil is dry.

Drilled directly 0.75-1L/ha in 750-1000L of water. 0.75 – 1 ml per litre of water. | Apply PREDATOR® 340EC to soil immediately after seed drilling before emergence of crops. The volume of dilution water shall be increased when soil is dry. |
PREPARATION OF SPRAY MIXTURE: Half fill the spray tank with water. Add the required amount of PREDATOR® 340EC, then fill the water to the required level and mix or agitate thoroughly to uniformity. Ensure that the mixture is used the same day.
APPLICATION TIMING: Apply PREDATOR® 340EC to soil immediately after planting/seed drilling or after planting, before emergence of the crops. Application should be done once. Do not apply this product when heavy rain is forecast.
APPLICATION METHOD: Do not treat weeds that are under poor growing conditions such as in drought stress, disease or insect damage as reduced weed control may result. Poor results may occur if weeds are treated whilst heavily covered with or have been mowed, grazed or cut and have not been allowed to re-grow to the recommended stage for treatment. Rain or irrigation occurring within 6 hours after application may reduce effectiveness. Heavy rainfall or irrigation within 2 hours after application may wash the chemical off the foliage and a repeat treatment may be required. For best results, spray coverage should be uniform and complete. Do not spray weed foliage to the point of run-off.
RE–ENTRY PERIOD: It is safe to enter the sprayed area after the spray deposits have dried preferably after 12 hours. If entry is necessary, wear protective clothing.
