Eficur is a broad-spectrum, third-generation cephalosporin used to treat bacterial infections in cattle and pigs.
Active Substance: Each mL contains 50mg of Ceftiofur (as Ceftiofur Hydrochloride).Formulation: A white to yellowish oily suspension that is bactericidal, inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis to treat both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
Indications:
- Cattle: Used to treat bacterial respiratory disease (shipping fever, pneumonia) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, and Histophilus somni. It is also used for acute interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot) and the bacterial component of acute post-partum metritis.
- Pigs: Used for the treatment of bacterial respiratory disease associated with Pasteurella multocida, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, and Streptococcus suis.
Dosage & Administration:
- Cattle: Administered via Subcutaneous (SC) injection. The standard dose for respiratory disease and foot rot is 1mL per 50kg body weight once daily for 3 to 5 days.
- Pigs: Administered via Intramuscular (IM) injection. The standard dose is 1mL per 16 to 17kg body weight once daily for 3 days.
Withdrawal Periods
- Cattle Meat: 2 to 6 days (depending on the exact jurisdiction and injection route).
- Cattle Milk: 0 days (Nil).
- Pig Meat: 5 days
